Jira Workflow Assistant User Guide

This guide shows you exactly how to use the extension day to day: where to click, what each page does, and the fastest flow to log work on a Jira issue.

Getting Started

Follow this once, then you are ready to log work quickly every day.

1. Open any Jira issue page in your browser.
2. Click the extension icon and choose Sign In With Google.
3. In the popup, click Open Sidebar In Current Tab.
4. Use the sidebar to pick a workflow or choose category + time, then click Log Work.
Tip: if you are signed out, workflows are visible but editing and logging actions stay locked.

What Each Sidebar Page Does

Logs

Daily logging area. Choose workflow/category/time and submit work log.

Settings

Create, edit, or delete your custom workflows, categories, and time options.

Account

See your signed-in email and plan. Sign in or log out from here.

Common Flows

Flow A: Log work in under 10 seconds

  1. Open issue page.
  2. Open sidebar.
  3. Click one workflow pill.
  4. Click Log Work.

Flow B: Build your own setup once

  1. Open Settings page.
  2. Add your recurring categories and time values.
  3. Create workflows that combine your most common description + time.
  4. Return to Logs page and use those presets daily.

Troubleshooting

Sidebar did not open

  • Make sure you are on a Jira issue page (for example, /browse/ABC-123).
  • Click Open Sidebar In Current Tab again from the popup.
  • Refresh the Jira tab and try once more.

Cannot log work

  • Check if you are signed in.
  • Ensure both description and time are selected or typed.

Need to reset your presets

  • Open popup and click Clear Local Data.
